Morgan Rogers Chelsea form has earned praise from Xabi Alonso after the England international scored in the 5-1 win over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.
Rogers has four goals and four assists in his first eight Chelsea appearances, according to the club. Alonso says his impact reflects his strength, speed, availability and connection with his team-mates.

Morgan Rogers Chelsea start draws Alonso praise
In Chelsea’s account of Alonso’s post-match comments, the manager said the attacking player’s form had not surprised him.
“He is young, he’s fresh, he’s strong and he’s quick – he is a very complete modern football player,” Alonso said.
Rogers joined from Aston Villa in the summer. Chelsea say he had a shortened pre-season after helping England finish third at the World Cup, yet he has quickly contributed in his new side.

Goals and assists have come early
Morgan Rogers Chelsea scoring began with a debut goal against Fulham. He has also scored away at Arsenal, in the draw with Hull City and against Bournemouth.
The Bournemouth goal was part of Chelsea’s rapid opening, with Jordan Henderson also scoring early. Read our report on Chelsea’s 5-1 win over Bournemouth for the full match story.
His four assists add another part to the Morgan Rogers Chelsea contribution. The early return gives Alonso both goals and opportunities created for other players.
Availability matters to Alonso
Chelsea’s article says Rogers has played more than 70 matches for club and country since the start of last season. Alonso highlighted his continued freshness despite that workload.
“His availability is also very high and this is very important,” the manager said. “He looks fresh and he is enjoying [his football] because he’s a great guy and is connecting very well with his team-mates, and with everyone.”
Morgan Rogers Chelsea performances have therefore impressed Alonso beyond the scoring numbers. The manager sees a player settling into the group while remaining available to contribute.
“He is having a great impact on the team and the club,” Alonso added. Maintaining that contribution will matter as Chelsea move beyond the Bournemouth win.
