Chelsea are owned by BlueCo. On 16 September 2026 Clearlake Capital acquired the stakes of Todd Boehly and Mark Walter and took full control of the club.

The 2022 takeover

A group led by Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjorg Wyss agreed terms on 7 May 2022 to buy Chelsea from Roman Abramovich. The UK government approved the £4.25 billion takeover, which ended Abramovich’s 19-year ownership.

September 2026

On 16 September 2026 Clearlake acquired the interests of Boehly and Walter. Boehly stepped down as chairman after four years.
