The Caicedo Chelsea interview: the midfielder says the club feels like home as he sets out his ambition to keep improving and become a more vocal leader.
It follows his return from injury against Bournemouth. Rather than treating that comeback as the end of a difficult spell, Caicedo says he wants to keep learning and repay the support he has received.
Caicedo Chelsea interview: a sense of belonging
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the club, Caicedo reflected on the challenges of his first season and the experience he has gained since joining.
“I can say Chelsea is my home, because they treat me like I’ve been here for a long, long time.”
He described himself as more mature and grateful for the help he has received. The Caicedo Chelsea interview sets out his aim to show supporters and everyone at the club what he can do, rather than settle for the progress already made.
Leading by example and learning to speak up
Caicedo is part of Chelsea’s leadership group, but admits in the Caicedo Chelsea interview that talking more on the pitch does not come naturally. Coaches have encouraged him to make himself heard, and he is trying to add that to his game.
When he cannot express himself through words, he says he tries to show even more through his actions. He cited Thiago Silva as an example of a player who helped team-mates throughout his time at the club.
Caicedo also sees an opportunity to develop under Xabi Alonso. The Chelsea manager’s trust motivates him to keep improving.
Caicedo Chelsea interview follows Bournemouth return
The midfielder played 72 minutes of the 5-1 win against Bournemouth. Chelsea’s account credits his forward pass in the move for Jordan Henderson’s opener and his tackle on Ryan Christie in the build-up to Morgan Rogers’ goal.
Those moments brought his influence back into view, but the Caicedo Chelsea interview also looks beyond matchday. Caicedo spoke about the support he receives from fans in Ecuador and at Stamford Bridge.
He described Chelsea’s renovation of a community pitch in Guayaquil as a proud moment. His bond with supporters is part of why he wants to deliver consistently, and he expressed confidence about winning silverware under Alonso.
