Chelsea injury news: Palmer and Joao Pedro

Football London reports that both players pulled out of international duty with muscular or knee problems, and that it was unclear at the time of writing whether either would be fit for Bournemouth. Read the full Football London report.

In the Chelsea injury news, it says Palmer left the England squad with an unspecified muscle issue and has been doing rehabilitation work in the Caribbean with a fitness coach, according to Chelsea sources. Joao Pedro hurt a knee while Chelsea prepared for the defeat to Brentford, the last game before the break, and withdrew from the Brazil squad.

The Standard adds to the Chelsea injury news that Joao Pedro has been seeing a knee specialist to speed up his comeback, and says initial reports in Brazil suggest he could be out for up to four weeks, with a return later in October if he misses Bournemouth. Read its Chelsea injury update.

Chelsea have not given a public update that we have seen, so neither player’s availability is confirmed.

Rogers and Estevao in form

There was some good news alongside the Chelsea injury news from the international break.

Morgan Rogers scored England’s seventh goal in a 7-0 win over Croatia, coming on for Harry Kane and finishing after a pass from Jude Bellingham, per the same report. He said: “Playing for my country means everything to me.”

Estevao Willian scored for Brazil against India in Kolkata and played 67 minutes. Football London notes that Xabi Alonso will be pleased to see both forwards in form.
